Dr. Fatima Kyari Mohammed, BDS, FMCDS Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon | Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Dr. Fatima Kyari Mohammed is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Lagos, Nigeria. She is passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based surgical care while helping patients understand their conditions and make informed decisions about their treatment. She obtained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from the University of Maiduguri and completed her specialist residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at LUTH. She was appointed a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in 2025. Her clinical interests include cleft lip and palate surgery, facial trauma, oral and maxillofacial pathology, maxillofacial oncology, and reconstructive surgery. She has particular experience in comprehensive cleft care, including cleft lip and palate repair and alveolar bone grafting. Dr. Kyari is actively involved in clinical research and academic medicine, with research interests spanning cleft lip and palate, childhood nutrition and surgical outcomes, alveolar bone grafting, and maxillofacial oncology. She has presented her work at local and international scientific meetings and was recognised as a Best Presenter at the AO CMF MENA Research Forum in Dubai in 2025. She was subsequently selected as a Young Ambassador to AO CMF MENA in 2026. Beyond clinical practice, she is committed to surgical education, mentorship, women’s participation in medicine, and improving access to quality healthcare. She is also actively involved in professional and community initiatives through organisations including the Medical Women Association of Nigeria.
